Product features

Quick answer: TXT 2K Reducer is the thinner Car Builders make for TXT Coating 2K. It brings the viscosity down so you can spray a finer, more even texture or a near smooth finish without losing the durability of the coating. Add 10% by volume for fine texture or 20% for smooth, and never more than 20%.

Why add reducer?

  • Texture too heavy for visible panels. Thin it and the finish goes from rugged to refined.
  • Wanting 2K through a gravity or pot gun. Reduced TXT 2K flows through a conventional gravity feed or pot style gun.

How the reducer works

Mix TXT 2K Part A and Part B first. Then stir the reducer in by volume. The more you add, up to the 20% limit, the finer the texture. The test panel in the photos shows the spread from fine to coarse.

What you get

  • 1 x TXT 2K Reducer tin

How much do I add?

Up to 20% of the mixed coating by volume. Use 10% for a fine texture.

Which coatings does it suit?

TXT Coating 2K Black and TXT Coating 2K Tintable. It is made for the 2K system only.

Using the reducer

Difficulty: Moderate. Easiest if you have spray gear and some experience with it.

  1. Activate the TXT 2K bottle with its hardener and mix.
  2. Measure the reducer: 10% by volume for fine, 20% for smooth or super fine.
  3. Stir it through the mixed coating.
  4. Load a conventional gun with a tip size of 2.0 to 3.0mm. Car Builders recommend 2.5mm.
  5. Apply two coats or more, flashing 25 min at 25°C between them.

Reducer mistakes to avoid

  • Exceed 20% reducer.
  • Reduce before the hardener goes in.
  • Use it in other paints.
