Single cab noise problems this pack fixes

• The wall right behind your head. In a single cab the rear firewall sits just behind the driver, so any noise it passes is right in your ear. Deadener runs up it to below the rear window, then foam or Acoustic Liner goes over the top.
• Drone through the floor on dirt roads. In a single cab the deadener runs from the pedal area over the whole floor pan to kill the buzz, and the underlay on top catches what still comes through.
• A roof that cooks in summer. Packs 2 and 4 add one 6mm Insul-Layer sheet under the single cab roof skin to cut heat and soften sound coming in.
• Tinny doors. The extra box of deadener in Packs 2 and 4 is there so the door skins get treated too.

How it works

Stage 1 Sound Deadener is the damping layer that sits on bare steel. Packs 1 and 2 cover it with 10mm peel and stick Waterproof Underlay on both the floor and the rear firewall. Packs 3 and 4 swap the floor underlay for waterproof Mass Noise Liner, foam topped with 2mm of mass loaded vinyl for more sound blocking, and they give the rear firewall its own box of 12mm Acoustic Liner.

Which single cab pack do I need?

Only bothered by the floor and back wall? Pack 1 on a budget, Pack 3 for the heavier vinyl backed floor. Want the whole cab done in one go? Pack 2 or Pack 4. There is no need to add boxes for a normal single cab.

Does it suit my single cab?

It is sized for 4x4 single cab utes in general. Car Builders names the 79 Series LandCruiser, Hilux, D-Max, Rodeo, BT-50, Ranger and Navara. For a 79 Series single cab you can also look at the Car Builders pre cut 79 single cab pack, which we list separately.

How to install in a single cab

Effort: one of the quicker vehicle packs, because there is only one row of seats and two doors to strip.

1. Take out the seat and carpet. For Packs 2 and 4, also remove the door cards and lower the headliner.
2. With the carpet out, wipe the single cab floor and rear wall back to clean steel using isopropanol or a wax and grease remover.
3. Run the deadener from the front firewall down across the floor and up the back wall to the bottom of the rear window, rolling it hard.
4. Packs 2 and 4: put the remaining sheets on the roof skin and inside the door skins.
5. Stick the underlay over the floor and back wall, or lay Mass Noise Liner on the floor and Acoustic Liner on the back wall. Insul-Layer goes on the roof.
6. Refit the carpet, seat and trims.

Single cab mistakes to avoid

• Stopping the deadener at the seat line. Take it right up the back wall to the window.

Common questions about the single cab pack

Is a roller included with the single cab packs?

Yes, every pack ships with a bonus install kit holding an application roller and a utility knife.

Why pick Pack 3 over Pack 1 for my ute?

Both cover the floor and rear wall. Pack 3 swaps the foam underlay for Mass Noise Liner and adds Acoustic Liner for the back wall, so it stops more noise. On the scales that is roughly double the single cab Pack 1.

Can I do my 79 Series single cab with this?

Yes, the 79 Series is on the Car Builders list for this pack. A pre cut 79 single cab pack is also available if you would rather not template the floor.

Which single cab packs treat the roof?

Only Pack 2 and Pack 4 do. Packs 1 and 3 stick to the floor and the wall behind the seat.
