Quick answer: Trimming one speaker box, a boot lid or a pair of arches does not need a full roll of carpet. These clearance offcuts of 4 Way Stretch are sized for small jobs and still stretch around curves. It is 3mm thick, 350g per square metre and UV stable. Pieces are up to 900mm long and 2m wide, clearance stock, so they suit small panels. Stock is limited.

What problems does the Short Length Stretch Carpet fix?

  • Paying for a full roll to cover one small panel. Short lengths suit a speaker box, a wheel arch or a boot lid.
  • Carpet that creases over curves. The 4 way stretch lets it contour to complex shapes.
  • Faded trim in the sun. It is UV stable automotive grade carpet.
  • Matching an existing colour. Colours look different online.

How it works

This is cut pile carpet that stretches in every direction. Apply spray adhesive to the panel and the carpet back, then work the carpet around the shape. The stretch lets it follow curves without pleats.

How much do I need?

Each piece is 2m wide and up to 900mm long. Piece lengths vary, so for a panel that needs an exact length contact our team before ordering.

Will it fit my vehicle?

Universal. Car Builders list walls, 1/4 panels, arches, rear firewalls, roofs, boot lids and speaker boxes as ideal spots for these offcuts. Not suitable for underfoot areas.

How to install

Difficulty: Moderate. Spray adhesive leaves little room to reposition, so plan each piece.

  1. Strip off the old carpet and glue, then wipe the panel free of dust.
  2. Cut a piece a little bigger than the panel so you can wrap the edges.
  3. Apply spray adhesive to the panel and the back of the carpet as the glue maker directs.
  4. Work the offcut out from the middle, stretching as you round each edge.
  5. Trim the excess with a sharp blade and wrap the edges.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Putting an offcut down as floor carpet. Offcuts are not made for floors or footwells.
  • Ordering a short length for a panel longer than the piece.
