Product features

Quick answer: If plastic trim has faded or a toolbox is scuffed and setting up a spray gun is too much for the job, TXT Coat Aerosol puts the Car Builders TXT 1K texture coating in a spray can. No gun, no compressor and no hardener: shake it and spray. It is made for touch ups and small jobs like plastic trims, interior parts, toolboxes and bar work, and covers about 1.5 square metres per 300g.

Why reach for the can?

  • A small scuff not worth setting up a gun for. Touch up texture straight from the can.
  • Faded or scratched plastic trim. Once prepped, it grips metal, aluminium, fibreglass, plastic and wood.
  • Small parts exposed to knocks and damp. The texture film stands up to impacts, scratches, rust and moisture.

How the 1K aerosol works

The 1K formula air dries without a catalyst. An agitation ball inside keeps it mixed as you shake. Build the texture in two or three light passes rather than one heavy coat.

What you get

  • 1 x TXT Coat Aerosol can

How many cans?

Roughly 1.5 square metres per 300g at minimum film thickness. Car Builders sell one to four cans. For large areas, the 1L TXT tins and a Schutz gun make more sense.

Which jobs does the aerosol suit?

Touch ups, plastic trims, interior components, toolboxes and bar work. It is a coating, so there is no vehicle list to check.

Spraying from the can

Difficulty: Easy.

  1. Sand with at least 180 grit. On flexible parts, go finer with 180 to 240 grit and use an adhesion promoter.
  2. Degrease with wax and grease remover or isopropanol. Wood should be dry and dust free, with no solvent.
  3. Prime bare metal with an etch or epoxy primer if rust protection matters.
  4. Shake until you hear the ball, then for another 2 to 3 minutes. Keep shaking between passes.
  5. Hold the can 20 to 25cm away and spray even, overlapping strokes.
  6. Leave 10 min at 25°C between coats and lay at least two.
  7. When finished, turn the can upside down and spray until clear to keep the nozzle open.

Aerosol mistakes to avoid

  • Spraying cold, below 5°C.
  • Heavy coats. They run on vertical trim.
  • Painting over glossy plastic without sanding.

FAQ

Is it the same coating as the TXT tins?

It is the 1K TXT formula packed in an aerosol. Use the tins and a gun for big areas.

Does it need primer?

Not always, but an etch or epoxy primer under it gives the best corrosion protection on metal.

Will it stick to plastic?

Yes, after a scuff and clean. Flexible plastic needs adhesion promoter.

How do I clean up overspray?

Mineral turps.

How long until it is fully hard?

5 to 7 days with UV exposure. Touch dry takes 3 to 4 hours at 25°C.
