Product features

Quick answer: Car Builders Seal It is a black, self adhesive butyl sealing material that stays flexible and waterproof. It does not cure, so it forms back into itself like a gum. Use it to refit door card membranes, seal headlights, seal seams and joints and stop panel rattles. It is rated from minus 50°C to 130°C and comes as a 6mm diameter bead, 10m long.

What problems does the Seal It Butyl Tape fix?

  • Door membranes that will not reseal after a speaker or deadening job. Seal It refits the membrane with a waterproof, flexible seal.
  • Headlights letting in water. Seal It is made for sealing headlights.
  • Rattling panels. Run it between panels to reduce rattles and seal them.
  • Sealers that go hard and crack. It is non curing and stays flexible.

How it works

Butyl is a soft, sticky rubber that never fully hardens. Pressed between two surfaces it grips metal, plastic and glass and stays pliable, so it keeps sealing as panels move and temperatures change.

What is in the box

  • 1 x Seal It Butyl Tape roll, black, 6mm diameter x 10m

How much do I need?

One roll is 10m. Measure the edge of each membrane, light or seam you want to seal and add it up.

Will it fit my vehicle?

Seal It is not tied to any make or model. Car Builders list door card membranes, headlights, seams and joints, and rattling panels.

How to install

Difficulty: Easy.

  1. Clean the surfaces so they are free of dust, oil and old sealer.
  2. Unroll the bead and press it along the edge you want to seal.
  3. Remove the backing paper as you go.
  4. Press the membrane, light or panel firmly onto the bead.
  5. Work any gaps closed with your fingers. It forms back into itself.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Laying it on dirty or oily surfaces.
  • Storing it in the sun or standing on its edge.
