Product features

Quick answer: Pro Loom Heavy is the hard wearing version of Car Builders self closing loom wrap. Denser, thicker filaments give it more durability and abrasion resistance than Lite, for looms that rub on the chassis or live under the vehicle. It comes in 8mm to 29mm, on 5m or 25m rolls.

Loom damage problems Pro Loom Heavy stops

  • Harness insulation wearing through where it rubs. The thicker filament weave is built for durability and greater abrasion resistance.
  • Undercarriage looms exposed to grime and fluids. Heavy is abrasion and chemical resistant, made for harsh areas like undercarriages.
  • Cracked plastic corrugated conduit. This woven wrap stays soft on the hands and flexible along the run.
  • Re terminating a loom just to protect it. Open the split and lay it over the existing wiring.

How it works

Heavy uses a denser weave of larger filaments than Lite, which is where its extra toughness comes from. Like Lite, it is split along its length and closes on its own with a 25% overlap, so a single size covers a span of loom diameters.

What is in the box

  • 1 x Pro Loom Heavy roll in your chosen size and length

How much Heavy do I need? Size and roll length

Size it from the loom diameter using the table below. Buy the 5m roll for a patch repair or one run, or 25m when you are sleeving a whole harness.

Where Heavy earns its place

Car Builders list Heavy for wiring looms and cable assemblies in harsh spots. Car Builders name engine bays and undercarriages. If space is very tight, Lite is the thinner option.

Fitting Pro Loom Heavy

Difficulty: Easy. A pair of scissors is all you need.

  1. Measure the harness and match it to a Heavy size.
  2. Cut the wrap to length with sharp scissors.
  3. Spread the split and push the harness into it, plugs and all left connected.
  4. Work along the run so the wrap closes and overlaps itself.
  5. Secure the ends where wires break out so the sleeve cannot open.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Going a size too small so the overlap disappears.
  • Trying to force Heavy into a gap that only Lite will fit.

FAQ

Do I have to unplug the harness?

No. The split design fits over an existing loom.

How do I pick a Heavy size?

Match the loom diameter to the size table. For example, 13mm covers wiring from 10 to 15mm across.

Can it live under the vehicle?

Yes. Car Builders made it for harsh environments such as undercarriages, and it is abrasion and chemical resistant.

What makes Heavy different from Lite?

Greater filament density and size. That gives more durability and abrasion resistance, while Lite is thinner and more flexible.
