Muscle car problems this pack fixes

• Exhaust drone at cruise. Deadener under the carpet from the firewall back stops the floor resonating with the exhaust note, and Stage 2 Acoustic Liner over it gives the carpet a modern underlay.
• Diff whine and rear arch roar. Pack 2 carries an extra box so the rear quarters and wheel arches, including the diff section, get treated.
• Engine heat through the firewall. In Pack 3, Mass Noise Liner goes on the interior side of the firewall from the plenum to the floor to cut heat and sound coming in.
• A noisy boot and spare wheel well. Pack 3 also uses Mass Noise Liner as a drop in blanket for the boot, which lifts out for spare wheel access.
• Old door cards letting water in. Pack 3 includes two 2 door Door Restore kits, a factory style waterproof membrane for the front and rear doors or quarters.

How it works in a muscle car

Stage 1 Sound Deadener stops the steel vibrating. Acoustic Liner is the peel and stick underlay that sits on top under your carpet. Pack 3 goes further for a full rebuild: Mass Noise Liner with its 2 in 1 vinyl and foam build on the firewall and boot, Door Restore behind the door cards and 6mm Insul-Layer across the roof skin.

Which muscle car pack?

Carpet coming out for a refresh? Pack 1. Rear end noise from the diff and arches? Pack 2. Car stripped to a shell for a full trim job? Pack 3 covers the floor, firewall, rear arches, outer door skins and roof.

Does it suit my car?

Car Builders names the Mustang, Charger and Camaro as examples. Sheets are cut to suit on the job, so measure your floor and boot if your car is larger than those.

How to install in a muscle car

Effort: moderate for Packs 1 and 2. Pack 3 is a full interior job best done while the car is stripped for trim.

1. Pull the seats and carpet. For Pack 3 remove the door cards, boot trim and headliner too.
2. Before rolling anything in the muscle car, scrub the bare floor steel with a solvent based wax and grease remover, or isopropanol, until the rag comes away clean.
3. Roll deadener everywhere the carpet goes, including the firewall. Pack 2 adds the rear quarters and arches. Pack 3 adds the outer door skins and roof.
4. Stick Acoustic Liner over the floor, ready for the carpet.
5. Pack 3: hang Mass Noise Liner on the cabin side of the firewall, drop a piece into the boot, fit the Door Restore membranes and cover the roof skin with Insul-Layer. Carpet or vinyl can go straight over the boot piece.

Mistakes to avoid on a muscle car

• Putting deadener under the boot Mass Noise Liner in Pack 3. Car Builders says it is not needed there.
• Gluing the boot blanket down and losing access to the spare wheel.

Does Pack 2 treat the doors of my muscle car?

The Car Builders page is mixed on this. The Pack 2 heading covers the floor and rear quarters, while its contents line also mentions doors. Ask us before ordering if the doors matter.

Can I still reach the spare wheel after Pack 3?

Yes. The boot Mass Noise Liner is a removable drop in blanket.

Will this kill my exhaust sound outside?

No. It treats the cabin panels, so the drone inside drops while the car still sounds the same outside.
