Wayne Busby Over the years I have tried many different cutters, but none would cut tag ends of braid cleanly, unless it was held taut.
I bought a couple of these pliers more than 10 years ago and they have been my 'go to' cutters since. Nothing has come close to the XXX Marine cutters in performance.
After tying a knot, such as an FG Knot, you can cut the tag end easily and cleanly without the braid going 'fuzzy', even with the line slack.
Both pair have made literally thousands of cuts and they still cut like new. The pictured pair are well over 10 years old.
Get yourself a couple of pairs in case they ever go out of production!
In addition to being fantastic cutters, they are sensational value for money; I just paid 12.95 for a new pair. I would happily pay $30 for these.
