A DAB glass mount antenna with a long metal element for improved reception in areas with average DAB broadcast signal 3 metre RG174 cable, SMB connector, and significant gain improvement over standard bundled antennas.
The Stinger STDAB-1 is a DAB glass mount antenna designed for improved reception performance over the basic stub antennas typically bundled with aftermarket head units. Its long metal element provides better signal capture, particularly in areas where DAB broadcast coverage is average or marginal.
Like the STDAB-2, the STDAB-1 covers both DAB Band III (174–237MHz) and L-Band (1452–1492MHz), delivers 10±2dB gain in Band III and 2dBi in L-Band, and uses an SMB connector on a 3-metre RG174 cable. The key difference from the STDAB-2 is the antenna element style the STDAB-1 uses a visible long metal element rather than the STDAB-2's concealed copper strip on the glass.

What is the difference between the STDAB-1 and the STDAB-2?
Both antennas share the same frequency range, gain specifications, cable length, and SMB connector. The STDAB-2 uses a hidden copper strip element that is concealed on the glass for a clean appearance. The STDAB-1 uses a long metal element that is more visible but may offer improved reception in areas with weaker DAB broadcast coverage.
Will this antenna work with any DAB head unit?
The STDAB-1 uses an SMB connector, which is the standard connection type for most aftermarket DAB+ tuners and head units with built-in DAB. Confirm your head unit has an SMB DAB antenna input before purchasing — some head units use a different connector type (e.g. MCX or SMA).
What does "active antenna" mean?
An active antenna contains an amplifier that boosts the received DAB signal before sending it to the head unit. The STDAB-1 requires a 12V DC power supply (40mA) from the head unit's antenna phantom power output. Most modern aftermarket head units with DAB tuners provide this automatically.
Is this antenna compatible with both DAB and DAB+ broadcasts?
Yes. The STDAB-1 covers the DAB Band III and L-Band frequency ranges used for both DAB and DAB+ broadcasts in Australia and internationally.
Can this antenna be mounted anywhere on the vehicle glass?
The STDAB-1 can be mounted to the windscreen, side windows, or rear window. The windscreen or rear window typically provides the best signal reception. Avoid mounting over metallic window tinting or heated rear window elements.
