Premium hybrid power capacitor combining electrolytic and carbon capacitor technology 5 Farads total capacitance, LED voltage display, 16–18V surge rating. Suited to car audio systems up to 1,000W.
The Stinger SPC505 is a 5 Farad hybrid power capacitor designed to supplement the vehicle's electrical system for high-powered car audio amplifiers. It combines high-power electrolytic capacitors for fast charge/discharge cycling with carbon capacitors for extended power reserve providing the combined benefits of battery and capacitor in a single unit.
The SPC505 stabilises battery voltage during high-demand audio peaks, reduces headlight dimming, and improves overall bass response and dynamics. A bright 4-segment red LED display provides real-time system voltage monitoring.
Accepts two 1/0GA or 4GA inputs/outputs or a combination of one each making it compatible with a range of amplifier wiring configurations.

What does a power capacitor do for a car audio system?
A power capacitor stores electrical energy and releases it very rapidly during high-demand bass transients — faster than the vehicle's alternator and battery can respond. This prevents voltage sag, reduces headlight dimming under loud bass, and allows the amplifier to draw peak current more cleanly, improving bass response and dynamics.
What is the difference between a hybrid capacitor and a standard capacitor?
A standard capacitor uses only electrolytic cells for fast cycling but limited reserve. The SPC505 hybrid design combines electrolytic capacitors (fast cycling) with carbon capacitors (higher energy reserve) — providing both rapid response and sustained reserve capacity, similar to the combined effect of a battery and a capacitor.
How much power can this capacitor support?
The SPC505 is rated for systems up to 1,000W. For higher-powered systems, a larger capacitance or additional capacitors may be required.
Does it replace the need for a second battery?
Not necessarily. A capacitor provides rapid-release supplemental power for audio peaks but does not store as much energy as a second battery for sustained draw. For systems with very high sustained current demand, a second deep-cycle battery is the preferred solution — the SPC505 is most effective as a supplement to the vehicle's existing electrical system in systems up to 1,000W.
What wire gauge does this capacitor accept?
The SPC505 accepts two 1/0GA or 4GA connections, or a combination of one of each — providing flexibility for different amplifier wiring configurations.
