Product Overview

The Stinger RKXHL is a purpose-built hood liner designed to reduce engine noise and heat transfer through the bonnet into the cabin and the engine bay environment. Constructed from polyester acoustic open-cell foam bonded to a fortified metal warm-temperature protection layer, it is 10mm thick and self-adhesive for easy peel-and-stick application directly to the inside of the bonnet.

At 12 sq ft (32" × 54" / approx. 81cm × 137cm), the RKXHL covers the inner bonnet surface of most passenger vehicles in a single sheet. Particularly effective on diesel, turbocharged, and supercharged vehicles where engine noise and under-bonnet heat are most pronounced.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same material as the Roadkill Expert panel sheets?

No. The RKXHL is a different product — it uses polyester acoustic open-cell foam bonded to a fortified metal thermal barrier, making it a lightweight hood liner rather than a dense butyl vibration damper. Standard Roadkill Expert butyl sheets are not recommended for bonnet application due to their weight and different thermal properties.

Does the RKXHL work on all vehicles?

The RKXHL is universal — the 32" × 54" sheet can be cut to fit the inner bonnet surface of most passenger vehicles, including hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, and utes. For bonnets larger than 12 sq ft, additional material may be required.

Is the installation permanent?

The self-adhesive backing provides a strong bond (38.24 lbs adhesion after 24 hours). While it can be removed if needed, it is designed for long-term installation and removal may require cleaning the bonnet inner surface.

Is this product safe for diesel or high-performance engine bays?

Yes. The RKXHL is rated to withstand temperatures in excess of 255°F (approx. 124°C), making it suitable for use near diesel, turbocharged, and supercharged engines.

Do I need to remove the factory hood liner to install this?

If the factory bonnet already has an existing liner, the RKXHL should typically be applied in place of the factory liner rather than on top of it. If the factory liner is already in good condition, contact the F.A.E. team to confirm the best approach for your specific vehicle.
