Frequently Asked Questions

What is a handbrake shoe?

A handbrake shoe is the friction component in a drum-style handbrake system. When the handbrake is applied, the shoe is forced outward against the inner surface of the brake drum, creating friction to hold the vehicle stationary. Over time the friction material wears and the shoe requires replacement.

How do I know if my handbrake shoes need replacing?

Common signs include a handbrake that requires more travel than usual to hold the vehicle, reduced holding ability on a slope, or visible wear on the friction material during inspection. A qualified mechanic should assess and replace worn handbrake shoes.

Is this a genuine RDA Brakes product?

Yes. The R2169 is a genuine RDA Brakes product supplied with the manufacturer's factory warranty. Only products purchased through authorised dealers include the full RDA warranty.

Can I fit these handbrake shoes myself?

Brake components are safety-critical. All brake shoe replacement work should be carried out by a qualified and experienced automotive technician. Do not attempt brake work without the appropriate skills, tools, and knowledge.

Will this part suit all Falcon and Territory variants listed?

Yes, the R2169 is cross-referenced to all Ford Falcon BA, BF, FG and Territory variants listed above. If you are unsure of your vehicle's specification, verify using your VIN or consult your vehicle's service manual before purchasing.
