The Projecta BT642-N10 is the Negative Bolt Brass Battery Terminal, Bag of 10. Buying for the workshop? The BT642-N10 puts 10 negative bolt terminals in one bag.
Buying for the workshop? The BT642-N10 puts 10 negative bolt terminals in one bag. Stud size is listed as 5/16 inch or 8 mm.
Lugs are held by a nut on the bolt, so tighten it with a spanner and it stays put. Forged brass conducts well and copes with the heat and vibration of an engine bay.
Check polarity before fitting: this suits the negative post only. Clean the post back to bright metal before fitting, and coat the joint once tightened.
After fitting, a thin smear of terminal grease or spray protector slows corrosion. Keep the positive covered so a spanner cannot bridge it to the body. If the old terminal was badly corroded, cut the cable back to clean copper before fitting the new one. Tighten firmly but do not crush the post; a lead post deforms easily. Check the terminal again after the first week, as new cable can settle under the clamp. Measure the post and the cable before ordering; a terminal that is too big for the post will never clamp properly. This comes with the manufacturer's warranty through the Australian distributor. See the manufacturer's terms for details, plus our guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.
The stud is 5/16 inch or 8 mm. Use lugs with a hole to match.
No. Positive posts are slightly larger than negative ones, so this negative terminal is sized for the negative post only.
Tighten until it cannot be twisted on the post by hand. Going further risks damaging the post or the terminal.
Projecta lists it as forged brass, which conducts well and copes with engine bay heat and vibration.
The bag of 10 suits workshops and fleets that fit these terminals regularly. For a single repair, a single pack is easier.
