Shipping information

We offer fast and reliable shipping options to ensure that your order arrives in a timely manner. Our dedicated team works diligently to process and ship your items as quickly as possible.

Here are some key points to note about our shipping policy:

Standard Shipping

  • Frankies offers a $15.95 flat rate for Australia-wide shipping, no matter how many items you order. Some larger or heavier items may incur an additional fee, which will be communicated to you when your order is processed.
  • While we endeavour to dispatch all orders promptly, please be advised that due to the current national fuel shortages in Australia and the resulting pressure on logistics networks, order processing and dispatch may take up to 7 business days. We are not liable for delays caused by third-party freight carriers or fuel-related logistical disruptions. By placing an order, you acknowledge that delivery timeframes may be extended beyond our standard estimates during this period.

Estimated delivery times:

  • WA, NT, and TAS: currently experiencing longer shipping times
  • Holiday periods (e.g. Christmas): deliveries may be delayed due to increased freight volumes

Express Shipping

  • Express shipping is available and calculated based on your delivery location, as well as the size and weight of your order. To receive an accurate quote, please contact our Albion Park Rail store and request an "express shipping quote." Our team will promptly assist with pricing and availability. Payment for express shipping can be securely arranged over the phone.

Product features

OEX ACX6155 Acid Core Solder 1.6mm Diameter 60/40 Tin and Lead 500g

The OEX ACX6155 is an acid core solder in 1.6mm diameter with a 60/40 tin and lead alloy ratio, supplied in a 500g packet. Acid core solder is suited to plumbing, metalwork and sheet metal applications where the aggressive flux action of an acid core is appropriate. It is not recommended for electrical or electronic wiring joints where residual acid flux can cause corrosion over time.

Product overview

The ACX6155 uses a 60/40 tin and lead formulation with an acid flux core. The higher tin content compared to a 50/50 alloy provides a lower melting point and improved flow characteristics, making it well suited to applications requiring good solder penetration on metal surfaces. The acid flux core is more aggressive than a resin flux and effectively removes oxidation from metal surfaces, but the residual flux must be thoroughly cleaned from the joint after soldering to prevent ongoing corrosion.

The 500g packet provides a practical working quantity for workshop or trade use. As with all acid core solder products, appropriate ventilation and personal protective equipment should be used during soldering, and flux residue should be fully cleaned from joints after completion.

Features and benefits

60/40 tin and lead alloy: The 60/40 tin/lead formulation provides a lower melting point and good flow characteristics, suited to metalwork and plumbing applications requiring reliable solder penetration.

Acid flux core: The integrated acid flux core provides aggressive oxide removal from metal surfaces, promoting strong solder adhesion on harder-to-solder materials. Post-soldering flux residue must be cleaned from joints.

1.6mm diameter: Standard diameter suited to hand soldering with a conventional soldering iron across a range of metalwork and plumbing joint sizes.

500g packet: Workshop-friendly quantity for regular use.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between acid core and resin core solder? Acid core solder uses an aggressive acid flux that is effective at removing heavy oxidation from metal surfaces, making it suited to plumbing and metalwork. Resin core solder uses a milder flux suited to electrical and electronic joints. Acid core solder should not be used for electrical wiring as residual acid flux is corrosive and can damage connections over time.

Does the ACX6155 require separate flux? No. The acid flux core is integrated into the solder wire. However, flux residue must be thoroughly cleaned from all joints after soldering to prevent corrosion.

Is an MSDS available for the ACX6155? Yes. An MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) is available for this product. Contact us to request a copy for your workplace safety documentation.

Can the ACX6155 be used for automotive electrical wiring? Acid core solder is not recommended for electrical or electronic wiring applications. Residual acid flux left in electrical joints causes corrosion over time. For automotive electrical work, a resin core solder such as the OEX ACX6151 is the correct choice.

Does this product carry a warranty? No. The ACX6155 is supplied without warranty as noted in the OEX product data.
