The OEX ACX3162 is a 600A heavy duty bus bar box combining a red positive bus bar and a black negative bus bar in a single enclosed unit. Four M10 (3/8") stud terminals two red and two black provide a structured, high-current distribution point for 12V, 24V and 48V DC electrical systems. The highest current rating in the OEX bus bar range, suited to high-capacity inverters, large lithium battery banks, commercial vehicle power systems and applications where the combined circuit current approaches or exceeds the 400A limit of the ACX3160. Same 168x80x40mm footprint as the ACX3160 for a like-for-like upgrade. Also available in a 400A version with 8 studs as the ACX3160. Covered by a one year warranty.
The ACX3162 is the highest-rated bus bar box in the OEX range at 600A continuous, stepping up from the 400A ACX3160 for the most demanding installations. There is an important trade-off between the two models: the ACX3162 provides a higher continuous current rating but fewer connection points two red positive and two black negative studs versus four of each on the ACX3160. For installations requiring maximum current capacity with a smaller number of high-current main feeds, the ACX3162 is the correct choice. For installations requiring more individual circuit connections at a lower total current, the ACX3160 with eight studs is more appropriate.
The 48V DC voltage rating covers 12V, 24V and 48V systems including lithium battery banks and solar storage installations. Glass fibre reinforced nylon provides heavy duty mechanical strength, electrical insulation and heat and impact resistance. Three sides of the box are open for unobstructed wiring access from multiple directions. At 168x80x40mm it shares the same footprint as the ACX3160, allowing a like-for-like upgrade without changing the mounting arrangement.

What is a bus bar box used for? A bus bar box provides a centralised, organised distribution point for multiple positive supply and negative return connections in a DC electrical system. Rather than stacking ring terminals at a battery terminal or using individual stud terminals, a bus bar box accepts multiple cables at a purpose-built enclosure, keeping the installation clean and making future maintenance easier.
How does the ACX3162 differ from the 400A ACX3160? The ACX3162 is rated at 600A continuous versus 400A for the ACX3160. However, the ACX3162 has 4 stud terminals (2 red, 2 black) while the ACX3160 has 8 (4 red, 4 black). Select the ACX3162 for maximum current capacity with fewer connection points, and the ACX3160 for more individual circuit connections at a lower total current.
What ring terminal size suits the M10 studs? The M10 studs are 10mm in nominal diameter and require ring terminals with a 10.5mm or larger ID hole. The OEX ACX3057 (10.5mm ID, blue, pack of 100) and ACX3057BL (pack of 14) are suitable options. Always confirm the ring terminal ID matches the stud diameter before purchasing.
