What does ignition protected (UL1500) mean?
Ignition protection, as defined by UL1500 and SAE J1171, means the circuit breaker is constructed to prevent it from igniting flammable vapours in its surrounding environment. This is a mandatory or strongly recommended specification for marine electrical installations — particularly in engine compartments and fuel storage areas where petrol vapours may be present.
What is the difference between IP66 and IP67?
Both ratings provide full dust protection (6). IP66 is rated against powerful water jets from any direction. IP67 is rated for temporary submersion. For most automotive and marine surface mount applications, IP66 is the relevant standard.
What terminal size does this breaker use?
The breaker uses #10-32 threaded studs. Compatible ring terminals and cable lugs should have a 6mm or ¼" hole. Select terminals sized for your cable gauge with this hole size.
How does this differ from the ACX1847 and ACX1848?
The ACX2086/5 is a compact mini surface mount format (58.2 x 35.7 x 34.7mm) rated at 32V DC with SAE/UL marine compliance. The ACX1847 (150A) and ACX1848 (200A) are larger heavy duty breakers rated to 72V DC with 9.5mm studs. Choose the ACX2086/5 for marine and compact installations up to 60A; choose the ACX1847/1848 for larger gauge, higher current, or higher voltage applications.
Is this available as a single unit or in other amp ratings?
Yes. Single units are available in 10A, 15A, 20A, 30A, 40A, 50A, and 60A. Box of 5 packs are available in 40A, 50A, and 60A. Check the OEX circuit breaker range for the correct rating and pack size for your application.
