The OEX ACX1100/400 is a split convoluted tubing sleeve in 7mm internal diameter, supplied in a 400m roll in black. Manufactured from fire retardant polypropylene, the split design allows cables to be inserted from the side without threading, making it well suited to retrofitting protection onto existing wiring harnesses and tidying up loose or exposed wiring runs. Rated to 90°C continuous with a melting temperature of 120°C. Suited to automotive, marine and caravan wiring environments including underbonnet applications.
The ACX1100/400 builds on the standard split convoluted tubing format with a fire retardant polypropylene material that resists ignition and self-extinguishes if a flame source is removed, providing an added layer of safety in automotive wiring environments where a standard polypropylene sleeve would not be specified. The split design allows cables to be pressed in from the side along the lengthwise opening rather than threaded from one end, making it practical for retrofitting protection to installed harnesses and organising loose cable runs without disconnecting connectors.
At 7mm internal diameter and 10.4mm outside diameter, the ACX1100/400 suits a wider range of cable bundles than the 5mm ACX1099/100. Note that the maximum cable bundle diameter for this size is 7mm matching the internal diameter. For bundles approaching this limit, confirm the fit before purchasing. The 400m roll is a high-volume trade format suited to workshop operations running large quantities of wiring protection across multiple jobs.
Split design for retrofit installation: Cables snap in from the side without threading, allowing the tubing to be added to existing wiring runs without disconnecting connectors or rerouting cables.
Fire retardant polypropylene: Resists ignition and self-extinguishes if a flame source is removed, providing an added safety margin over standard polypropylene in automotive wiring environments.
7mm internal diameter and 10.4mm outside diameter: Suits a wider range of single cables and small wire bundles than the 5mm ACX1099/100.
Black: Supplied in black, suited to standard automotive wiring presentation.
Convoluted construction: Flexible and bendable while maintaining cable protection against abrasion and chafing, suited to routing through bends and tight spaces.
90°C continuous temperature rating: Suited to automotive and underbonnet environments where sustained heat is present.
120°C melting temperature: Provides a safety margin above the continuous rating for short-duration heat exposure.
400m roll: High-volume trade format for workshop wiring protection operations covering multiple jobs from a single roll.
One year warranty: Covered by a one year OEX warranty.

What is split convoluted tubing? Split convoluted tubing is a flexible ribbed sleeving with a lengthwise split along one side. Cables can be pressed into the split opening rather than threaded through from the end, making it easy to add protection to existing wiring without disconnecting anything. The convoluted ribbed construction gives it flexibility and abrasion resistance.
What is fire retardant polypropylene and why does it matter in automotive wiring? Polypropylene is a lightweight, chemical-resistant thermoplastic commonly used for convoluted tubing. The fire retardant grade used in this product resists ignition and self-extinguishes if a flame source is removed, providing an added safety margin in automotive wiring environments over standard polypropylene sleeving.
What size cables fit inside 7mm convoluted tubing? The 7mm internal diameter suits individual cables and small bundles up to 7mm in diameter. For smaller bundles, the 5mm ACX1099/100 may be a better fit. For larger bundles, OEX produces convoluted tubing in larger internal diameter sizes.
Is this tubing suitable for underbonnet use? Yes. The 90°C continuous temperature rating and 120°C melting temperature make it suitable for most automotive underbonnet environments. For areas with sustained extreme heat exposure, verify the ambient temperature against the tubing rating before use.
How do I cut split convoluted tubing to length? Split convoluted tubing can be cut with scissors, side cutters or a sharp blade. Cut between the ribs rather than through them for a cleaner end.
