The OEX ACX0904 is a 4 B&S single core battery cable in black, supplied on a 30m roll. With a 20.29mm² OFHC copper conductor across 287 strands, this is one of the largest cables in the OEX battery cable range and is designed for the most demanding high-current applications including heavy-duty battery interconnects, high-capacity winch feeds and commercial vehicle wiring where maximum current-carrying capacity and minimum resistance are required. The PVC insulation is UV stabilised and rated to V90 (90°C). Compliant with AS/NZS 3808:2000 and RoHS. Covered by a one year warranty.
At 20.29mm² with a 287-strand OFHC copper conductor, the ACX0904 sits at the top of the OEX battery cable range, providing significantly lower resistance and higher current-carrying capacity than both the 6 B&S (13.36mm²) and 8 B&S (7.91mm²) cables. This makes it suited to the most demanding high-current applications long battery cable runs, very high current draws, high-capacity winch and recovery equipment power feeds, commercial vehicle starter motor and alternator wiring, and dual battery main feeds on high-draw setups where conductor cross-section and low resistance are the primary requirements.
The 287-strand construction delivers outstanding flexibility for routing through tight engine bay and battery compartment spaces despite the very large cable gauge. The UV stabilised V90 PVC insulation handles continuous operating temperatures up to 90°C for battery and engine bay installations. The 30m roll suits workshop jobs and single-vehicle installations. Always verify the required cable size with a licensed auto electrician for your specific application, current load and run length.
4 B&S gauge battery cable: Heavy-duty battery cable for the most demanding high-current 12V and 24V applications, stepping up from the 6 B&S range for long runs, very high current draws and commercial vehicle applications.
20.29mm² conductor cross-section: Significantly larger than 6 B&S (13.36mm²) and 8 B&S (7.91mm²), providing the lowest resistance and highest current-carrying capacity in the OEX battery cable range.
287-strand construction: Outstanding flexibility for routing through tight engine bay and battery compartment spaces despite the very large cable gauge, with more strands than any smaller gauge in the OEX range.
OFHC copper conductor: Oxygen free high conductivity copper minimises resistance for efficient current transfer across the most demanding battery and supply circuit applications.
Australian owned and made: Premium quality copper cable produced locally to Australian automotive wiring standards.
UV stabilised PVC insulation: Resists degradation in sun-exposed and engine bay environments.
V90 temperature rating (90°C): PVC insulation rated for continuous operation at up to 90°C, suited to battery and engine bay installation environments.
AS/NZS 3808:2000 compliant: Meets the Australian and New Zealand standard for insulated conductors and cables for internal wiring of equipment.
RoHS compliant: Meets hazardous substance restrictions.
30m roll: Workshop-friendly length for single-vehicle and multi-circuit jobs without the bulk of a full-length trade roll.

What is B&S gauge and how does it differ from AWG or metric sizing? B&S (Brown and Sharpe) is a wire gauge system commonly used in Australian battery and heavy-duty automotive cable. 4 B&S is equivalent to approximately 4 AWG and corresponds to a conductor cross-section of around 20.29mm². It is a standard sizing reference used by Australian auto electricians and suppliers for battery and starter cables.
How does 4 B&S compare to 6 B&S and 8 B&S? 4 B&S has the largest conductor cross-section (20.29mm²) of the three, compared to 6 B&S (13.36mm²) and 8 B&S (7.91mm²), giving it the lowest resistance and highest current-carrying capacity. Select 4 B&S for the most demanding applications including long runs, very high current draws and commercial vehicle wiring. Always verify the correct cable size with a licensed auto electrician for your specific application.
Is a 30m roll sufficient for a single-vehicle installation? The 30m roll suits most single-vehicle heavy-duty battery cable installations. For trade workshops or fleet operations requiring larger quantities, contact us to confirm whether the ACX0904 is available on a longer trade roll.
What does V90 mean? V90 is the Australian cable insulation classification indicating the PVC insulation is rated for continuous operation at up to 90°C. It is the standard specification for automotive-grade PVC insulated cable in Australia and confirms suitability for battery and engine bay installation positions.
Is this cable available in other sizes or colours? OEX produces battery cable in a range of B&S sizes and colours. Contact us for available size and colour options to suit your specific application.
