Mongoose SDR Wireless Speaker for MPRSWB Rear Parking Sensor Kits

A wireless in-cabin replacement speaker for Mongoose MPRSWB rear parking sensor kits, providing adjustable audible proximity alerts with customisable volume and detection distance settings.

Product Overview

The Mongoose SDR is a wireless in-cabin speaker accessory designed exclusively for use with the Mongoose MPRSWB wireless rear parking sensor kits. It connects wirelessly to the MPRSWB rear sensor module to deliver clear audible alerts when the rear sensors detect an obstacle during reversing, serving as either a replacement for a lost or damaged speaker unit or an additional speaker for a secondary cab location.

The SDR connects wirelessly to the MPRSWB rear sensor ECU module and requires a direct power connection to the vehicle's electrical system. Volume and detection distance settings are adjustable directly on the unit, allowing the speaker to be customised to suit different vehicle cabins and driver preferences. The wide 10-30V DC operating voltage ensures compatibility with both 12V passenger vehicles and 24V commercial vehicles and trucks.

Features & Benefits

Wireless Connection to MPRSWB Module: The SDR connects wirelessly to the Mongoose MPRSWB rear sensor ECU module, maintaining the cable-free installation advantage of the Mongoose wireless sensor range without requiring a physical signal cable between the sensor system and the speaker.

Adjustable Volume Settings: Volume can be adjusted directly on the SDR to suit the cabin environment of different vehicle types, ensuring the audible alert is clearly audible without being excessively loud in smaller or quieter cabins.

Adjustable Detection Distance Settings: Detection distance settings can be customised on the SDR, allowing the sensitivity of the proximity alert to be fine-tuned to suit the driver's preferences and the specific rear configuration of the vehicle.

Compact Speaker Dimensions: At 65mm x 65mm x 22mm, the SDR is compact and discreet, making it easy to mount in a suitable in-cabin location without taking up significant space on the dashboard or centre console.

Wide Voltage Compatibility - 12V and 24V: The 10-30V DC operating voltage makes the SDR compatible with both 12V passenger vehicles and 24V commercial vehicles and trucks, consistent with the full Mongoose wireless sensor range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the SDR compatible with Mongoose front parking sensor kits?

No. The SDR is designed exclusively for use with the Mongoose MPRSWB wireless rear parking sensor kits (MPRSWB-D and MPRSWB-S). It is not compatible with the MPFSWB front sensor kits. If you require a replacement or additional speaker for a front sensor kit, please contact us to confirm the correct accessory for your front kit model.

Does the SDR require a power connection?

Yes. While the SDR connects wirelessly to the MPRSWB rear sensor ECU module for signal reception, it requires a direct connection to the vehicle's power supply to operate. This power connection should be made to a suitable switched 12V or 24V source within the cabin during installation.

Can I use the SDR as a second speaker in a dual-cab vehicle?

Yes. The SDR can be used as an additional in-cabin speaker for larger vehicles such as dual-cabs or commercial vehicles where a single speaker may not be audible from all seating positions. It connects wirelessly to the same MPRSWB module and requires its own power connection.

Can I adjust the alert sensitivity on the SDR?

Yes. Both volume and detection distance settings are adjustable directly on the SDR unit, allowing you to customise how loud the alert is and at what proximity distance the alert triggers. This is useful for fine-tuning the system around vehicle-specific rear obstacles such as tow bars or spare tyres.

Is professional installation recommended for the SDR?

Professional installation by a qualified auto electrician or car audio technician is recommended to ensure the SDR is correctly wired to a suitable power source and positioned in the cabin for optimal audibility. Incorrect power connections can damage the unit or affect sensor kit performance.
