The Kenwood KFC-PS1796 is a pair of 17cm two way coaxial speakers from the Performance Standard series. They are rated at 100W with 330W peak, have 88dB sensitivity and a 48mm mounting depth, and come with grilles and speaker leads. They suit doors or rear decks.

A sensible factory upgrade

Factory paper cones go soft and rattle with age, and the sound turns muddy. These use a stiff polypropylene woofer with a diamond array pattern, a rubber surround and a steel basket, plus a 30mm balanced dome tweeter for clearer highs. At 88dB they work well from head unit power, so an amp is optional.

Install notes

Check there is 48mm of clearance behind the mount for the window and the door skin. Many cars need a speaker adaptor for a 17cm frame. Seal the speaker to the mount with foam so the bass does not leak away into the door.

Will they fit a 6.5 inch opening?

They are 17cm speakers with a 139.6mm hole. Many 6.5 inch openings fit, but check yours first.
