Product features

Quick answer

The Kenwood KFC-PS170C is a 17cm Performance Series component set rated 400W peak and 80W RMS.

It pairs a wide etched PP woofer with a PP, mica and carbon cap and a swivel 25mm soft dome tweeter, with an external network box.

Problems it solves

  • Vocals stuck low in the door. A swivel tweeter aims the highs at the driver.
  • Thin bass from factory paper cones. The etched PP woofer is stiffer.
  • A 17cm factory opening. This set matches that size directly.

Specifications

  • Size: 17cm woofer, 25mm tweeter
  • Power: 400W peak, 80W RMS
  • Woofer: Wide etched PP cone, PP, mica and carbon cap
  • Tweeter: 25mm soft dome, swivel type
  • Crossover: External network box

What is in the box

Sold as a component system, so the 170mm woofers, the swivel 25mm soft dome tweeters and the external network box all come together.

Install notes

Fit the network box in a dry spot inside the door or kick panel, then wire the woofer and tweeter from it.

Warranty

This comes with the manufacturer's warranty through the Australian distributor. See the manufacturer's terms for details, plus our guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.

FAQ about the KFC-PS170C

Is a 17cm KFC-PS170C too big for a 6.5 inch door?

It can be. The woofer is 170mm, so measure the factory opening first. Some 6.5 inch doors take it on an adaptor ring.

Can I angle the KFC-PS170C tweeters after fitting?

Yes. Kenwood lists a swivel type 25mm soft dome tweeter that can be adjusted after installation, so you can aim it from the sail panel or door top. Sold as a component system, so the 170mm woofers, the swivel 25mm soft dome tweeters and the external network box all come together.

Should my amp for the KFC-PS170C components be about 80W RMS a channel?

Yes. The KFC-PS170C is rated 80W RMS continuous. The 400W figure is peak only.
