The GME LE503 is a 10m RG213/U coaxial cable pre-terminated with a PL259 connector at one end and an N Type connector at the other. RG213/U is a larger-diameter, lower-attenuation coaxial cable than RG58, suited to longer cable runs where signal loss over distance is a concern particularly for VHF, HF, and UHF antenna installations where the antenna is located well away from the radio. Ready to install with no soldering required. For installations requiring more than 10 metres, the 15-metre LE504 is available.
RG213/U is a 50-ohm coaxial cable with an outer diameter of approximately 10.3mm compared to around 5mm for RG58. The larger centre conductor and thicker insulation produce significantly lower signal attenuation per metre, which matters when the cable run between the antenna and radio is 6 metres or more. Over these distances, RG58 loses enough signal to affect communication performance. The LE503 suits mast-mounted marine VHF antennas, fixed base stations, HF antenna installations, and UHF CB systems where the antenna is positioned well away from the radio.
The PL259 end connects to standard SO239 antenna sockets found on the majority of marine VHF radios, HF transceivers, and UHF CB radios. The N Type end suits equipment and antenna bases with N Type inputs, providing a robust, weatherproof, threaded connection for professional and commercial installations. Both ends are factory-terminated and ready to install.
RG213/U coaxial cable lower attenuation than RG58: Larger diameter and lower signal loss per metre than RG58, suited to longer antenna runs where signal attenuation is a concern.
10m length - greater installation flexibility: Longer than standard 5-metre antenna leads, providing reach for remote antenna positions on masts, rooftops, and base station setups. 15-metre option available as LE504.
PL259 connector suits SO239 antenna sockets: Standard large-body coaxial connector compatible with SO239 sockets on marine VHF radios, HF transceivers, and UHF CB equipment.
N Type connector robust and weatherproof: Threaded, weatherproof coaxial connector for professional and commercial equipment with N Type inputs and exposed or outdoor installation locations.
Pre-terminated both ends - no soldering required: Factory-terminated and ready to install directly out of the packaging.
Suits UHF CB, VHF marine, and HF radio systems: RG213/U at 50 ohms is appropriate across UHF CB (477MHz), VHF marine (156MHz), and HF (1 to 30MHz) frequency ranges.

What is RG213/U and how does it differ from RG58? RG213/U is a heavier-gauge 50-ohm coaxial cable with an outer diameter of approximately 10.3mm compared to around 5mm for RG58. The larger centre conductor and thicker insulation result in significantly lower signal attenuation per metre, which is important for longer cable runs where RG58 would lose too much signal between the antenna and radio. RG213/U is the standard choice for professional and commercial antenna installations over longer distances.
What is the N Type connector? The N Type connector is a large, robust, weatherproof threaded coaxial connector used in professional RF applications. It provides excellent shielding and a secure mechanical connection, commonly used on commercial antenna bases and professional radio equipment. The LE503 connects the N Type end to equipment or antenna bases using this connector type.
When should I use the LE503 over a shorter RG58 cable? Use the LE503 when the antenna is more than around 5 to 6 metres from the radio, or when the installation requires lower signal attenuation than RG58 provides. For standard 4WD and vessel installations with the antenna close to the radio, RG58 is generally adequate. For mast-mounted marine antennas, fixed base stations, or cable runs exceeding 5 to 6 metres, RG213/U minimises signal loss.
Which end connects to the radio and which to the antenna? Typically, the PL259 end connects to the radio's SO239 antenna input and the N Type end connects to an antenna base or equipment with an N Type socket. Confirm the connector types of both the radio and antenna before purchasing to ensure compatibility.
Can the LE503 be used for UHF CB, VHF marine, and HF radio installations? Yes. RG213/U at 50 ohms is appropriate for UHF CB (477MHz), VHF marine (156MHz), and HF (1 to 30MHz) frequency ranges. The LE503 suits any of these radio systems where both the radio and antenna have compatible connector types PL259 or N Type.
