Product overview

The GX700W is a full-specification fixed-mount VHF marine radio in a compact form suited to limited dashboard and console space. The rear microphone input socket is a notable installation feature an optional extension cable (5m or 8m, sold separately) runs from the rear of the unit to a remote flush-mount waterproof socket at a convenient location on the vessel. The MC616W speaker mic then plugs into this remote socket rather than hanging from the front panel. This is particularly well-suited to above-windscreen installations in hard-top vessels, where routing the mic cable from the front of the radio would cross the skipper's sightlines. A waterproof blanking plug covers the front socket when the rear input is in use.

The large LCD display is readable from any angle in both bright sunlight and low-light conditions. Adjustable brightness suits day and night use. Dual and triple watch monitor two or three channels simultaneously, with Channel 16 the international distress, safety, and calling frequency continuously monitored. Two programmable priority channels and two working channel memories provide quick access to frequently used frequencies.
