The GME GX400B is a 27MHz transceiver covering both the 27MHz Marine Band and 27MHz Citizen Band in a single user-selectable unit. IPX7 waterproof to 1 metre for 30 minutes, dual speaker system (front panel and waterproof speaker mic), large backlit LCD with dimmer, dedicated Channel 88 emergency button, dual and triple watch, channel scanning with memory, and two priority channels. Both flush mount and gimbal bracket mounting options are included. Compact 45mm mounting depth suits tight dashboard and console locations. White version available as GX400W.
The GX400B combines 27MHz Marine Band and 27MHz Citizen Band operation in a single unit. The marine band covers vessel-to-vessel, vessel-to-shore, and distress communication in Australian coastal and inland waters using the 27MHz spectrum. The CB band provides land-based communication on the 27MHz citizen band frequencies. The user selects which band to operate on, making the GX400B suited to vessels and operators who need both on-water marine communication and land-based CB capability from the same radio.
Channel 88 is the designated distress and safety calling channel on the Australian 27MHz marine band the equivalent of Channel 16 on VHF marine radio. The large dedicated red emergency button provides immediate one-button access in a distress situation without navigating menus or scrolling channels. IPX7 waterproofing withstands 1 metre submersion for 30 minutes for reliable operation in exposed marine locations.
The dual speaker system covers the helm via the front panel speaker and the included waterproof speaker mic. Dual watch and triple watch monitor two or three channels simultaneously keeping Channel 88 or other safety channels continuously monitored while operating on a working channel. Channel scanning with memory stops on active transmissions and returns to scanning when the channel clears. Both flush mount (65 x 165mm cut-out) and gimbal bracket surface mount options are included, with a 45mm mounting depth for tight console and dashboard locations. An optional SPK45 extension speaker can be added for audio coverage at a second vessel location.

What is the difference between 27MHz Marine Band and 27MHz CB? Both operate in the 27MHz HF frequency range but use different channel plans for different user groups. The 27MHz Marine Band is for boat-to-boat, boat-to-shore, and distress communication in Australian coastal and inland waters Channel 88 is the designated marine emergency channel. The 27MHz Citizen Band is the Australian open-use CB system for land-based communication. The GX400B covers both, allowing the same radio to serve on the water and on land.
What is Channel 88 and why is it important for marine use? Channel 88 is the designated distress and safety calling channel on the Australian 27MHz marine band equivalent to Channel 16 on VHF marine radio. Vessels in distress should transmit on Channel 88. The GX400B's dedicated red button provides immediate one-button access to Channel 88 in an emergency without navigating menus or scrolling channels.
What are dual watch and triple watch functions? Dual watch monitors two channels simultaneously typically the working channel and a safety or calling channel such as Channel 88. Triple watch extends monitoring to three channels at once. The radio interrupts channel monitoring when a transmission is detected on a watched channel, ensuring important calls on safety and working channels are not missed.
What mounting options are included and what are the cut-out dimensions? Both a flush mount bracket and a gimbal bracket are included. Flush mounting requires a 65 x 165mm cut-out with a 99 x 209mm mounting frame outer dimension. The 45mm mounting depth allows installation in tight dashboard and console locations.
What is the optional SPK45 extension speaker? The SPK45 is an optional external speaker for extending audio coverage to a different location on the vessel useful on larger vessels where the helm speaker cannot be heard at the stern, cockpit, or below deck. Contact us for details on the SPK45 before purchasing.
