Rough tracks snap stiff UHF antennas, and a whip that suits the hills is not always the best choice on open plains.

The AE4704B is a 580mm black fibreglass radome with a 2.1dBi gain, mounted on a heavy duty spring base that flexes when a branch hits it. It is ground independent, comes with a 4.5m lead pre terminated in FME, and the whip can be swapped for other AE470x lengths when terrain changes. GME designs and makes it in Australia.

Fitment and compatibility

GME offers AE470x whips at 465mm and 2.1dBi, 1050mm and 6.6dBi, and 1960mm and 8.1dBi on the same base. Low gain suits hilly or timbered country, while the longer whips reach further across flat ground. A white version is sold as the AE4704.

What is in the box

GME lists the AW4704B whip, the AS004B heavy duty spring base, the ABL004 4.5m lead and an AD503 FME to PL259 adaptor.

Install notes
