Product features

820mm Highly Flexible Slimline 6 dBi UHF CB Antenna for 4WD and Agricultural Vehicles Ground Independent, Removable Whip, Australian Made

Product Overview

The GME AE4016 is a highly flexible 3.5mm slimline 820mm UHF CB (477 MHz) antenna with 6 dBi gain the 6 dBi version of the slimline AE4015 (2.1 dBi). Like the AE4015, it uses a unique impedance transformer for ground-independent performance and allows the complete antenna to be removed from the base, reducing clearance issues when navigating rough terrain, vegetation, gates, and low overhead obstacles.

The highly flexible 3.5mm whip is specifically designed to reduce damage when travelling in rugged terrain bending rather than breaking on contact with obstacles.

The AE4016 includes a mounting base, 5m coaxial cable, and FME connection. Designed and manufactured at GME's facility in Sydney, Australia.

Features & Benefits

  • 820mm highly flexible 3.5mm slimline whip — extremely narrow 3.5mm profile with high flexibility; reduces damage from contact with vegetation, branches, and obstructions
  • 6 dBi gain — higher gain than the AE4015 (2.1 dBi); improved range for 4WD and agricultural use in flatter terrain
  • Ground-independent design with impedance transformer — the unique impedance transformer base provides ground independence without requiring a steel vehicle body
  • Complete antenna removable from base — the entire antenna can be removed from the base, not just the whip; minimises clearance issues when required
  • Pre-terminated FME connector — the 5m cable terminates in FME
  • Australian Made — designed and manufactured at GME's Sydney facility
  • 5m low-loss coaxial cable and base included — mounting base, cable, and FME connection supplied

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this kit include an FME to PL259 adaptor for radios with standard SO239 inputs?

The AE4015 (the 2.1 dBi sibling of this antenna) includes an AD503 FME to PL259 adaptor in the kit. Whether the AE4016 also includes the AD503 is not confirmed in the available supplier data. If your UHF CB radio uses a PL259/SO239 input rather than FME, confirm whether the AD503 is included or needs to be purchased separately before ordering.

How does the AE4016 compare to the AE4015?

The AE4015 is a 350mm slimline 2.1 dBi UHF CB antenna for ATVs and agricultural vehicles. The AE4016 is an 820mm slimline 6 dBi version — longer for higher gain and improved range, but maintaining the same slimline 3.5mm flexible whip design, ground-independent impedance transformer, and removable antenna philosophy. Choose the AE4016 for better range in flatter terrain; the AE4015 for the most compact clearance profile.

What does the 3.5mm diameter slimline whip mean practically?

At 3.5mm diameter, the AE4016 whip is significantly narrower than standard UHF CB antenna whips (which typically range from 5mm to over 10mm). This extreme slimline profile reduces wind resistance, reduces the chance of snagging on vegetation, and provides very high flexibility — the whip can deflect significantly from upright without damage.

What does "complete antenna removable from base" mean — is this different from a removable whip?

In the AE4015, only the whip element is removable. The AE4016 allows the complete antenna to be removed from the base — both the whip and the transformer housing lift away from the base mount, leaving only the lowest base component attached to the vehicle. This provides even greater clearance reduction when required.

Is this antenna Australian Made?

Yes — the AE4016 is designed and manufactured at GME's dedicated facility in Sydney, Australia. GME highlights local manufacturing as enabling them to tailor products specifically to Australian operating conditions.
