The GME AE2007 is a 1200mm stainless steel base-loaded whip antenna for 27 MHz CB radio, from GME's pre-tuned 27 MHz antenna range. The base-loaded design positions the internal loading coil at the bottom of the whip (near the antenna base), electrically extending the antenna to resonance at 27 MHz while keeping the physical length at 1200mm a practical compromise between full-length performance and manageable size.
At 1200mm, the AE2007 provides more radiating element length than compact rubber whip antennas such as the AE2001 (320mm), offering improved range in applications where a longer antenna can be accommodated.
The AE2007 is ground-dependent it requires a ferrous (steel) vehicle body or mounting surface to provide the antenna ground plane. Whip only the antenna base, coaxial cable, and radio are not included.

In a base-loaded antenna, an internal loading coil is positioned at the bottom of the whip, near the antenna connector. The coil adds inductance that electrically lengthens the antenna element to achieve resonance at the target frequency (27 MHz) without requiring the full physical quarter-wave length of approximately 2.7 metres. Compared to centre-loaded or top-loaded designs, base loading typically reduces peak efficiency slightly but provides a mechanically simple and reliable construction.
The AE2001 is a 320mm black rubber whip; the AE2007 is a 1200mm stainless steel base-loaded whip — approximately 3.75 times longer. The additional physical length of the AE2007 provides a larger radiating element, which generally translates to improved signal range. The stainless steel construction also offers better durability and corrosion resistance than rubber for long-term outdoor use.
Thread type for the AE2007 is not confirmed in the supplier data. Contact GME to confirm the thread standard before selecting a compatible base. GME's ABL001 (5/16" TPI, ground-dependent) or AD201 thread adaptor range may be relevant depending on the confirmed thread specification.
At 1200mm, the AE2007 is classified as a long item by some freight carriers, which apply dimensional surcharges or oversized parcel rates to packages exceeding standard length limits. Confirm the freight cost for your specific location with your supplier before ordering.
The AE2007 relies on the vehicle's metal body as its electrical ground plane. Steel-bodied vehicles work correctly; fibreglass, aluminium, and non-metallic surfaces will not provide the required ground plane and will result in poor antenna performance. For non-metallic surfaces, a ground-independent elevated-feed base (such as the GME ABL002) is required instead.
