Shipping information

We offer fast and reliable shipping options to ensure that your order arrives in a timely manner. Our dedicated team works diligently to process and ship your items as quickly as possible.

Here are some key points to note about our shipping policy:

Standard Shipping

  • Frankies offers a $15.95 flat rate for Australia-wide shipping, no matter how many items you order. Some larger or heavier items may incur an additional fee, which will be communicated to you when your order is processed.
  • While we endeavour to dispatch all orders promptly, please be advised that due to the current national fuel shortages in Australia and the resulting pressure on logistics networks, order processing and dispatch may take up to 7 business days. We are not liable for delays caused by third-party freight carriers or fuel-related logistical disruptions. By placing an order, you acknowledge that delivery timeframes may be extended beyond our standard estimates during this period.

Estimated delivery times:

  • WA, NT, and TAS: currently experiencing longer shipping times
  • Holiday periods (e.g. Christmas): deliveries may be delayed due to increased freight volumes

Express Shipping

  • Express shipping is available and calculated based on your delivery location, as well as the size and weight of your order. To receive an accurate quote, please contact our Albion Park Rail store and request an "express shipping quote." Our team will promptly assist with pricing and availability. Payment for express shipping can be securely arranged over the phone.

Product features

Elevated-Feed Stainless Antenna Base with PL259 Ground Independent, 4.5m Low-Loss Foam Coax, BSW Thread

Product Overview

The GME ABL017 is an elevated-feed stainless steel antenna base with 4.5 metres of low-loss foam coaxial cable and a PL259 connector (GME part number PL25292S). Like the ABL002 and ABL002F, the ABL017 uses the same ground-independent elevated-feed design and BSW thread but with a PL259 connector included in the box, rather than the unspecified connector of the ABL002 or the FME of the ABL002F.

The ground-independent design means the ABL017 does not rely on a conductive (steel) vehicle or vessel body for antenna ground plane, making it suitable for fibreglass, aluminium, and non-metallic surfaces across 4WD, marine, and recreational applications.

Features & Benefits

  • Elevated-feed / ground-independent design — no conductive vehicle or vessel body required for ground plane; suits fibreglass, aluminium, and non-metallic surfaces
  • Stainless steel construction — corrosion-resistant for marine, coastal, and outdoor environments
  • PL259 connector included (PL25292S) — the PL259 is pre-supplied in the box; no separate connector purchase required for standard radio connections
  • 4.5m low-loss foam coaxial cable — minimises signal attenuation over the full cable run
  • BSW thread — confirm your antenna uses BSW thread before purchasing; not compatible with 5/16" TPI or other thread standards
  • Suits 4WD, marine, and recreational applications — the ground-independent design is appropriate across all of these

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the ABL017 differ from the ABL002 and ABL002F?

All three are elevated-feed stainless steel bases with ground-independent design, BSW thread, and 4.5m low-loss foam coax. The ABL002's connector is unspecified in supplier data; the ABL002F has an FME connector; the ABL017 has a PL259 connector (PL25292S). Choose the ABL017 for installations connecting to a standard PL259 radio socket, the ABL002F for radios with an FME socket.

What is the PL25292S connector?

PL25292S is the GME part number for the specific PL259 connector included with the ABL017. PL259 is the standard "UHF series" coaxial connector widely used across CB and UHF radio installations in Australia. It threads into the SO239 socket on most standard mobile and base station CB/UHF radios.

Why might this item incur additional shipping charges?

The ABL017 is an antenna base with 4.5m of coaxial cable, making the packaged item longer than standard parcel dimensions. Some freight services apply surcharges or use dimensional weight pricing for long, slim packages. Confirm the shipping cost for your specific location before ordering.

Does the BSW thread accept 5/16" TPI antenna whips?

No — BSW (British Standard Whitworth) and 5/16" TPI are different, incompatible thread standards. Always confirm that your intended antenna whip uses a BSW thread before purchasing this base. The ABL001 (5/16" TPI, ground-dependent) is the appropriate choice for standard 5/16" TPI antennas.

What applications is this base designed for?

The ABL017 suits any application where a ground-independent antenna mounting is required — including fibreglass boats and vessels, aluminium ute canopies, non-metallic roof structures, and any 4WD or recreational vehicle body where a conventional ground-dependent base would not perform correctly.
