Product Overview

The Gator GX5HDKT is a complete reverse camera kit from the GX Series, designed for cars, 4WDs, and small vans. The standout feature is the 800cd display brightness significantly brighter than most reversing monitors, providing a clearly visible image even in direct sunlight.

The kit includes a stealth registration plate mount camera that hides entirely behind any standard Australian registration plate no drilling required, no visible hardware. The kit also includes a CANBUS noise filter to address interference in modern CANBUS vehicles.

Two mounting options are provided for the monitor a windscreen suction mount and a flexible adhesive surface mount for flexible installation in any vehicle. Two guideline modes are selectable on the monitor.

Note on mirror image: The GX5HDKT monitor does not support reverse (mirror) image the camera outputs in standard (non-mirrored) rear view orientation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is 800cd brightness significant for a reversing monitor?

Most aftermarket reversing monitors are rated at 300–500cd. At 800cd, the GX5HDKT's display is significantly brighter — making it clearly readable in direct sunlight conditions where lower-brightness monitors appear washed out. This is particularly useful for utes and 4WDs that operate in bright outdoor environments.

Does the camera require drilling for installation?

No. The stealth registration plate mount hides behind any standard Australian registration plate — all hardware is behind the plate and invisible from outside. No additional holes are required.

Does the monitor support a mirrored reverse image?

No. The GX5HDKT monitor does not support a reverse (mirror) image. The camera outputs in standard rear view orientation. This is consistent with other Gator passenger car monitors in this range.

Does the kit include a CANBUS filter?

Yes. A 1m CANBUS noise filter harness is included in the kit — installed inline in the camera circuit to reduce or eliminate interference experienced in CANBUS-equipped vehicles.

Can a second camera be added to this system?

Yes. The GX5HDKT monitor has two RCA video inputs — a second camera (such as a front view camera) can be added and used via the second input.
