Product Overview

The Gator GT18AHD is a heavy duty surface mount ball camera from the Gator GT enhanced vision range, designed for heavy trucks, mining, and industrial or construction vehicles. It transmits 720P HD video via AHD (Analog High Definition) technology over standard coaxial cable to compatible AHD monitors and DVRs providing HD resolution without expensive or fragile digital cables.

The rotating ball head allows the camera to be positioned at various angles for optimal coverage, and the adjustable sunshade reduces glare. IP69K rating provides maximum protection against high-pressure water jets and steam cleaning the highest IP rating for water ingress.

Six infrared LEDs enable 0 lux night vision operation. The loop system allows gridlines and image orientation to be configured during installation:

• Green loop: Default no gridlines → cut for parking gridlines
• White loop: Default rear view image → cut for reverse (mirror) image

Important: This camera is only compatible with AHD monitors and DVRs — it cannot be connected to standard RCA monitor inputs.

What is AHD and why does it matter?

AHD (Analog High Definition) transmits HD video (720P or higher) over standard coaxial cable — the same cable type used by standard analog cameras. This means HD video quality can be achieved without the cost and installation complexity of digital cabling. The trade-off is that AHD cameras can only be used with AHD-compatible monitors and DVRs — they are not compatible with standard RCA monitor inputs.

Why is IP69K better than IP67 for heavy vehicles?

IP67 protects against temporary submersion in water. IP69K adds protection against high-pressure, high-temperature water jets — such as pressure washing and steam cleaning of heavy vehicles and mining equipment. For industrial applications where cameras are regularly cleaned with high-pressure hoses, IP69K is the required standard.

How does the loop system work on this camera?

The GT18AHD has two loops — green and white. The green loop defaults to no gridlines (cut for gridlines); the white loop defaults to rear view image (cut for mirror reverse image). Unlike some other Gator cameras, this model does not include a PAL/NTSC blue loop — it operates in PAL only.

Can this camera be connected to a standard head unit or RCA monitor?
