A super-compact IP67 surface mount camera that can be mounted virtually anywhere on the front or rear of a vehicle 110-degree wide angle, PAL/NTSC switchable, parking gridlines and image orientation switchable via loop system. Front view, rear view, or reverse camera.

Product Overview

The Gator G55CL is a compact IP67 surface mount camera in an aluminium case, suitable for front or rear mounting on virtually any vehicle. Three wire loops on the wiring harness provide installer-adjustable settings:

• Blue loop: Default PAL → cut for NTSC
• Green loop: Default parking lines ON → cut to remove parking lines
• White loop: Default mirror image (reverse) → cut for forward facing image

The 110-degree CMOS wide-angle lens eliminates rear blind spots, and the 0.2 lux minimum illumination allows low-light operation. PAL/NTSC switchable with standard RCA output and 4-pin micro DIN connector for clean, simple installation. Includes 2m power wire and 6m RCA video cable with reverse trigger.

Note: The G55CL defaults to PAL and mirror image (reverse) mode — the opposite default to the G45CL (which defaults to NTSC). No loop cuts are required for most standard Australian reverse camera installations.

What are the default settings of the G55CL?

The G55CL defaults to PAL, parking gridlines ON, and mirror (reverse) image. For a standard Australian reverse camera installation — PAL head unit, gridlines preferred, reverse mirror view — no loop cuts are required. Cut the green loop if gridlines are not wanted; cut the blue loop only if your head unit requires NTSC.

How does the loop system work?

Cutting a loop permanently changes that setting. Blue loop: switches from PAL to NTSC. Green loop: removes parking gridlines. White loop: switches from mirror image to forward-facing image. Loops are cut once during installation — set your preferences before completing the install.

What is the difference between the G55CL and the G45CL?

The G55CL is a surface mount camera (mounts directly on the vehicle's body). The G45CL is a stealth registration plate mount (mounts behind the registration plate for an invisible installation). The G55CL has a slightly narrower 110-degree lens vs 120-degree on the G45CL. The G45CL defaults to NTSC; the G55CL defaults to PAL.

Does the cable include a reverse trigger wire?

Yes. The 6m video cable includes a reverse trigger wire that connects to the vehicle's reverse light circuit, automatically activating the camera display when reverse gear is selected.

Is professional installation required?

The G55CL is designed for simple installation with the loop system removing the need for additional configuration tools. However, routing the wiring neatly and connecting to the reverse light circuit may require some automotive wiring knowledge. Contact the F.A.E. team for installation advice.
