A universally mounting, virtually invisible registration plate camera IP67 rated, 120-degree wide angle, PAL/NTSC switchable, parking gridlines switchable on/off, and usable as front view, rear view, or reverse camera. Suits all standard Australian registration plates.
The Gator G45CL is a compact IP67-rated stealth camera that mounts behind any standard-size Australian registration plate on the front or rear of a vehicle. The entire mounting system sits behind the plate, making the camera virtually invisible from the outside with no additional drilling required.
Three wire loops on the wiring harness allow installer-adjustable settings during installation cut the specific loop for each required setting:
The 120-degree CMOS sensor provides a wide field of view, and the 0.2 lux minimum illumination allows use in low-light conditions. PAL/NTSC switchable and standard RCA output make it compatible with any aftermarket head unit or monitor with an RCA camera input.
Best suited to vehicles with centrally mounted registration plates for optimal viewing angle.

How does the loop system work?
The G45CL wiring harness includes three loops that control three settings. Leaving the loop intact keeps the default setting; cutting the loop changes it. Blue loop: cuts from NTSC to PAL. Green loop: enables parking gridlines. White loop: flips the image from rear view to reverse (mirror) orientation. This is done once during installation — select your settings, cut the relevant loops, and the camera operates in those settings permanently.
Does this camera require drilling to install?
No. The mounting bracket sits entirely behind the registration plate, making the installation tool-free and non-invasive. The camera lens appears through a small gap below the plate, remaining virtually invisible.
Which vehicles is this suitable for?
The G45CL suits any vehicle with a standard-size Australian registration plate. It works best on vehicles with centrally mounted plates — off-centre plate positions may affect the viewing angle. Contact the F.A.E. team if you are unsure whether your vehicle's plate position is suitable.
What is the difference between rear view and reverse image settings?
In rear view mode, the image is not flipped — suitable for use as a standard rear view or front view camera. In reverse (mirror) mode, the image is horizontally flipped — displaying the view as you would see it in a rear view mirror, which is the standard for reversing camera displays. For most reversing applications, cut the white loop to enable the reverse mirror image.
Does the cable include a reverse trigger wire?
Yes. The 6m video cable includes a reverse trigger wire that connects to the vehicle's reverse light circuit — automatically activating the camera display when reverse gear is selected.

All goo
It's pretty simple to install, easy to run the data cable to the front of the car and into the back of the headunit. I got someone else to make the power connection to the reversing lights. I can't figure out how to make it display automatically on my headunit screen when I put my car in reverse, so I'm stuck doing it manually with a button on the headunit screen. Also, because I have installed mine on a 2009 BL series 1 Mazda 3 which has a very low number plate location, the angle of the camera is not actually that helpful for reversing, it's very low to the ground, but that is no fault of the camera or bracket. The picture quality is very good.
