Product Overview

The Gator G176V is a vehicle-specific reverse camera for the Volkswagen Transporter van (twin rear door models only). It replaces the factory high-level brake light at the rear of the vehicle with a camera housing providing a completely discreet installation without additional drilling.

The 170-degree wide-angle CMOS lens minimises rear blind spots, and IP69K rating provides maximum protection against high-pressure water jets and steam cleaning ideal for work vans in trade and construction environments.

The camera uses a 4-pin connector and outputs PAL video. An additional extension cable (4-pin connector type) is required to reach from the camera to the display monitor this is not included in the kit.

Brake light compliance: This camera replaces the high-level brake light housing. Confirm with the F.A.E. team whether the factory brake light function is retained after installation to ensure legal compliance.

The Volkswagen Transporter is available with different rear door configurations — twin rear doors (French doors) and a single tailgate. The G176V is designed around the brake light position and housing on the twin rear door variant, which differs from the single tailgate. It is not compatible with single-tailgate Transporter models.

What extension cable is required?

A 4-pin camera extension cable is required to run from the camera at the rear of the vehicle to the monitor at the front. The required length depends on your specific vehicle routing — contact the F.A.E. team for guidance on the correct extension cable.

Does this camera retain the factory brake light function?

No. The G176V is specified for T5 (2010–2015), T6 (2016–2019), and T6.1 (2020) only. The T4 is a different generation with a different body design and is not covered.
