Product Overview

This all metal waterproof construction AHD camera is ideal for trucks or buses where heavy duty application is required. Operates on 12V vehicles and includes built in IR LEDs for excellent night visibility and microphone for extra safety.

For use with the RV70PK-AHD, RV70B-AHD & RV74B-AHD rear view screen and camera kit.

Important Notes:

AHD Monitor Required: This is an AHD (Analog High Definition) camera requiring compatible AHD monitor for operation. Specifically designed for DNA RV70PK-AHD, RV70B-AHD, and RV74B-AHD monitors. Not compatible with standard analog (CVBS) monitors, digital IP camera systems, or non-AHD displays. Using with incompatible monitors results in no image or degraded image quality. Verify monitor AHD compatibility before purchase.

12V Operation Only: Camera operates on 12V DC vehicle electrical systems only. Not compatible with 24V commercial vehicle systems without voltage converter. Connecting to 24V power source will damage camera electronics. For 24V vehicles, use appropriate DC-DC voltage converter (12V regulated output) or select 24V compatible camera model if available.

Professional Installation Recommended: Mirror arm mounting requires secure attachment to vehicle mirror assembly or mounting bracket. Installation involves drilling mounting holes, routing cable through vehicle body panels, connecting to monitor's AHD input, and waterproofing all connections. Improper installation may cause water ingress, cable damage from moving parts, or camera detachment during vehicle operation. Professional installation ensures proper positioning, secure mounting, and weatherproof connections.

PAL Video Standard: This camera outputs PAL video standard (used in Australia, Europe, Asia-Pacific). Ensure your AHD monitor supports PAL video standard. Most DNA AHD monitors auto-detect PAL/NTSC, but verify compatibility. NTSC monitors (North America, Japan) may not display image correctly without PAL support.

Mirror Arm Position Considerations: Mirror arm mounting positions camera at height suitable for side-view monitoring. Ideal for blind spot coverage, side clearance monitoring, or wide-angle rear coverage on large vehicles. Adjust mounting angle during installation to optimize viewing area. Camera's 120° horizontal viewing angle provides wide coverage but requires proper aiming for intended monitoring zone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's the difference between AHD and standard analog cameras?

A: AHD (Analog High Definition) cameras deliver 1280x720 HD resolution (720p) over standard coaxial cable, providing significantly better image quality than traditional analog CVBS cameras (typically 480-600 lines resolution). AHD offers sharper images, better detail recognition, and improved digital zoom capability while maintaining analog's simplicity and reliability. However, AHD cameras require AHD-compatible monitors - they will not work with standard analog monitors. This camera is specifically designed for DNA's RV70PK-AHD, RV70B-AHD, and RV74B-AHD AHD monitor systems.

Q: Can I use this camera with my existing standard analog monitor?

A: No, this AHD camera requires an AHD-compatible monitor to display images. It will not work with standard analog (CVBS) monitors, composite video monitors, or non-AHD displays. You must use DNA's compatible AHD monitors: RV70PK-AHD, RV70B-AHD, or RV74B-AHD. If you have a standard analog monitor, you need a standard analog camera instead. AHD and analog are different video transmission technologies and are not cross-compatible.

Q: Will this work on my 24V truck?

A: No, this camera operates on 12V DC only. Connecting to 24V power will damage the camera. For 24V commercial vehicles (most heavy trucks, buses), you have two options: (1) Use a DC-DC voltage converter (24V to 12V regulated) to power the camera, or (2) Tap into a 12V circuit if your vehicle has dual voltage systems. Professional installation can identify appropriate 12V power source or install voltage converter. Check if DNA offers a 24V version of this camera for direct 24V compatibility.

Q: How do I mount this camera and how long is the cable?

A: This camera features mirror arm mounting design typically attaching to vehicle's mirror assembly or dedicated mounting bracket on door/fender. The included cable is only 0.6m (60cm) long - this is the pre-installed pigtail from camera to the 4-pin lockable connector. You'll need an extension cable (sold separately) to run from camera location to monitor in cabin. Extension cables available in various lengths (5m, 10m, 15m, 20m) depending on vehicle size. Professional installation recommended as it involves secure mounting, proper camera aiming, cable routing through vehicle body, and waterproof connection sealing.

Q: What's the night vision range and will it work in complete darkness?

A: The 2 built-in IR LEDs provide infrared illumination with 0.1 LUX minimum illumination rating. Typical effective night vision range is 3-5 meters in complete darkness, adequate for close-range monitoring (side clearance, blind spots, immediate rear area). IR range depends on environmental conditions - reflective surfaces, rain, fog reduce effectiveness. For longer night vision range, consider adding auxiliary IR illuminators. The camera automatically switches to night mode when ambient light drops below threshold. Note that IR LEDs are invisible to human eye but visible to camera sensor, appearing as bright spots if viewing camera directly.
