Troopy problems these packs fix

• A tin can rear body. The big rear body of a Troopy rings over corrugations. Stage 1 Sound Deadener goes on the firewall, front floor, under the front seats, inner quarter panels, rear wheel arches and door skins in both main packs.
• Noise up through the cargo floor. Pack 2 adds Mass Noise Liner for the footwells, transmission tunnel and under the seats, plus two more sheets for the rear cargo area. Its deadener allocation leaves 8 sheets for the cargo area.
• Radiant heat through the roof on a long tour. The factory headliner only has room for deadener underneath. If you are replacing it, the pre cut Van Liner insulation pack creates a radiant heat barrier, finished with carpet if you like.
• Hours lost templating the floor. The pre cut floorpan option is Mass Noise Liner machine cut for the 78 Series, so it drops straight in.

How it works

Car Builders gives you enough deadener for a significant improvement without loading on cost and weight, with guidance in the instructions on how much each panel needs. Over that sits 10mm Water Proof Underlay in Pack 1, or Mass Noise Liner in Pack 2. In the pre cut insulation pack, 10mm peel and stick Van Liner lines the quarters or roof and can be glued and trimmed with four way stretch carpet.

How much should I order for a Troopy?

For the cab and body, one main pack. For the roof under a factory headliner, the deadener roof option, which asks for at least 50% coverage of open roof skin. If you want more coverage than the pack allows, Car Builders suggests adding an extra box of Stage 1 Sound Deadener for further, smaller gains.

Which Troopcarrier does it fit?

The main packs are for the LandCruiser Troopcarrier. The pre cut floorpan suits the 2007 78 Series, and Car Builders says the pattern has been adapted for late model Troopies with extra cut outs you remove only if needed. The pre cut insulation pack suits the 78 Series.

How to install in a Troopy

Effort: the most involved pack in this range, because the floor, rear body and roof can all be on the list.

1. Strip the front seats, floor coverings, door trims and rear body trims. Lower the headliner if you are treating the roof.
2. Troopy roof and quarter panels need a wipe with isopropanol or wax and grease remover before any deadener touches them.
3. Roll the deadener onto the firewall, front floor, under seat area, inner quarters, rear arches and door skins, then the cargo area using the remaining sheets.
4. Seal every deadener edge on the roof with the aluminium foil tape.
5. Lay the Water Proof Underlay or Mass Noise Liner. If you bought the pre cut floor, drop it in and remove the extra cut outs only where your Troopy needs it.
6. For the insulation pack, stick the pre cut Van Liner in place. To finish with carpet, spray adhesive on both the Van Liner and the carpet back, wait between 10 and 15 seconds and press together.

Troopy mistakes to avoid

• Putting Van Liner on the roof and expecting the factory headliner to refit. It will not, which is why the carpet finish exists.
• Ordering the pre cut floorpan with Pack 1. It is only available with Pack 2 Premium.

FAQ for Troopy owners

Will the factory Troopy headliner go back over insulation?

Only over Stage 1 Sound Deadener. It is a tight fit, so thicker insulation means replacing the headliner, which is why the insulation pack offers carpet.

Why is carpet offered in the insulation pack?

Once Van Liner is on the roof the factory lining does not fit, so four way stretch carpet glued to the Van Liner gives an OEM look. The adhesive is included.

Can I order just the quarter panel insulation for my Troopcarrier?

Yes. The insulation pack can be quarter panels only, roof only with or without carpet, or both.

Can I get the pre cut floorpan with Pack 1?

No. Car Builders only offer it with Pack 2 Premium.
