Quick answer: Plushlay is an easy to install under carpet insulation from Car Builders. It replaces traditional cotton or sisal underlay with a 12mm, 1200gsm layer that contours to the floor, will not break down or rot, and has no odour. Glue it down with spray adhesive or just lay it in place so it can be lifted later. Each sheet is 1.8m x 950mm.

How it works

Plushlay sits between the floor pan and the carpet. Its density and thickness give the carpet a firm, even base underfoot and add a layer of insulation, without lifting the carpet so high it will not fit back in.

How much do I need?

One sheet is 1.8m x 950mm. Measure your floor area and divide by the sheet size, then add a little for trimming around tunnels and seat mounts.

Will it fit my vehicle?

Universal. Suits vehicle floors under carpet, including restorations replacing cotton or sisal underlay.

How to install

Difficulty: Easy. Minimal cutting, and glue is optional.

  1. Remove the carpet and any old underlay, then clean the floor.
  2. Lay the Plushlay sheet over the floor and work it into the shape of the pan.
  3. Trim around seat mounts, bolts and the tunnel.
  4. Glue it with Car Builders Spray Adhesive, or leave it loose so it can be removed later. Use adhesive on vertical surfaces.
  5. Refit the carpet over the top.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Laying carpet over rust or wet floors. Fix those first.
  • Covering seat belt and seat mounting points.
  • Expecting it to stay put on vertical surfaces without spray adhesive.
