Quick answer:The CANNECT HIGHBEAM-4 reads the vehicle CAN bus and gives you low current 12 volt trigger outputs, so driving lights or a light bar switch on with the factory high beam. It also gives park light, reverse and ignition outputs, each rated at 1 amp.

It is a trigger, not a driver, so you still need a relay and a proper wiring harness for the lights. A status LED shows when it has found CAN data and recognised the car. Some vehicles lose auto headlight dimming. The supplier application table lists 34 vehicles, including Ford Ranger and Everest, Isuzu, Mazda, Toyota, RAM, Mercedes and Volkswagen models. FAQ

Can the HIGHBEAM-4 power my light bar directly?

No. The supplier says it is not designed to drive light bars or driving lights directly. You still need a relay harness, which is not included. Each output is a 12 volt trigger rated at up to 1 amp, so the relay carries the current for the lights.

Why might the high beam output come on with the headlights off?

The supplier notes some cars send the signal when the stalk is pushed to high beam with the lights off. A switch or a lights on power source fixes it.

What should I know before I buy the CANM8?

Check the application list first, as it is not universal; the supplier table covers 34 vehicles, including Ford, Toyota, Mazda, Isuzu, Mercedes, RAM and Volkswagen models.
