The Aerpro AMDVW6 is a complete head unit upgrade kit exclusively for the Volkswagen Transporter (2016–2019) fitted with the MIB-II factory head unit. It should not be confused with the AMDVW4 or AMDVW5, which cover the Transporter (2016–2019) with the MIB-PQ factory unit a different integration architecture requiring different kits.
The AMDVW6 uses the same Infodaptor integration approach as the AMDVW5, retaining the factory amplified audio system, steering wheel controls (including the phone button), parking tones, and vehicle menu access via the Infodaptor Interface Harness. As with all Infodaptor-based kits, the interface connects to the rear camera input on the head unit, and the output is low resolution.
Connected Car features are not retained: Features including E-Call, We Connect, and the towing alarm are not actively retained by this kit. They may have limited background functionality but should not be relied upon after installation.
SOS/Service/Info buttons — dealership coding recommended: For Transporter T6 models with SOS, Service, or Info buttons, Aerpro recommends having these functions factory coded out by an approved dealership prior to installation. Failure to do so may cause diagnostic issues on the MFD after the head unit swap.
Factory reverse camera retention requires the separately sold APVVW03 adaptor. Stop-start models may require the separately sold APIGNSTB ignition stabiliser.
The kit includes the AM1005D multimedia receiver, matte black facia kit, Infodaptor Interface Harness, SWC patch lead, antenna adaptor, and a surface mount rear camera (110-degree, IP67, 6m RCA cable with in-line reverse trigger).

Both MIB-II and MIB-PQ are variants of VW's Modular Infotainment Platform, and both appeared in the Transporter T6 (2016–2019) depending on specification and market. MIB-II is generally found in higher-specification T6 variants with connected services (E-Call, We Connect) and SOS/Service/Info buttons; MIB-PQ is more common in base commercial configurations. The clearest indicator is whether your Transporter has connected car buttons or services — if it does, it likely has MIB-II. Confirm using the Aerpro What Fits Your Car Guide before purchasing.
E-Call (emergency call on crash detection), We Connect (VW's connected vehicle app platform), and the towing alarm are not actively retained after installation. These features are tied to the factory MIB-II head unit's connectivity architecture. They may have limited background functionality, but should not be relied upon post-installation. If any of these connected services are important to your vehicle's operation, consider whether an aftermarket head unit upgrade is suitable.
On Transporter T6 models with SOS, Service call, or Info buttons, these functions are registered to the MIB-II system. After replacing the factory head unit, the MFD may generate diagnostic faults because the system expects these buttons to be active. Having them factory coded out by an approved VW dealership before the installation prevents these faults from appearing.
Yes, but only with the separately sold APVVW03 camera retention adaptor. Because the rear camera input on the head unit is occupied by the Infodaptor Interface, the APVVW03 is required to route the factory camera through an alternative path.
The Infodaptor is a vehicle integration module that reads factory system data (amplifier, SWC, parking tones, vehicle menu) and transmits it as an analogue video signal through the head unit's rear camera input. Because it uses the camera input rather than a native digital interface, the output is low resolution. This is the same architecture used in the AMDVW3 and AMDVW5 for other VW models.
