The Aerpro AMDMZ21 is the amplified counterpart to the AMDMZ20, designed specifically for the Mazda CX7 ER Series 2 (2009–2012) fitted with a factory amplified audio system. It retains the factory amplifier, steering wheel controls, and vehicle menu access while adding wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in DAB+ digital radio, and Bluetooth V5 via a 9" capacitive touchscreen at 1024x600 resolution.

Critical installation requirement: The SWC Interface Harness in this kit includes a line level converter. This converter MUST be connected during installation. Bypassing it or failing to use it correctly risks damage to the factory amplifier. Using the non-amplified AMDMZ20 on an amplified CX7 will also risk amplifier damage. Ensure the correct kit is ordered for your vehicle's specification.

The kit includes the AM905D multimedia receiver, matte black facia kit, SWC interface harness (with line level converter), SWC patch lead, antenna adaptor, and a 720P AHD universal rear camera. The phone button on the steering wheel is not supported on this kit.

Why must the line level converter be used — what happens if it isn't?

The factory amplifier in the CX7 ER Series 2 is designed to receive a specific signal level at its input. The AM905D head unit outputs at a higher level than the factory amplifier expects. Without the line level converter (which steps the signal down to a safe level), the excess signal can overdrive and damage the factory amplifier. Using the AMDMZ20 (non-amplified kit) on an amplified CX7 has the same risk.

How does the AMDMZ21 differ from the AMDMZ20?

The AMDMZ21 is for factory-amplified CX7 variants; the AMDMZ20 is for non-amplified variants. The AMDMZ21 retains the factory amplifier using the line level converter integrated into the SWC harness. Both kits retain SWC (excluding phone button) and vehicle menu. Neither retains the factory reverse camera, USB, or AUX.

Does the phone button on the steering wheel work after installation?

No — the phone button is specifically not supported by the AMDMZ21. All other factory steering wheel control functions are retained. This applies to both the amplified AMDMZ21 and the non-amplified AMDMZ20.

How do I know if my CX7 ER Series 2 is amplified?

An amplified CX7 has a separate amplifier unit mounted in the vehicle (typically under a seat or in the boot) with dedicated speaker wiring running from it.
