What is Smart Start Interlock?

A Smart Start Interlock is an electronic breath-testing device that links to the ignition system of a vehicle.

Before you can drive, the interlock requires the driver to complete a breath test on the interlock. If the device detects that you have alcohol in your body, the interlock will stop the vehicle starting. Random breath tests are also required to be passed during a journey. Additionally, there is a camera that takes a photo of the driver when a breath sample is provided.
